4 Ways HealthTrust Members Benefit From Refurbished Imaging Equipment

GPO-grayOver the past 6 months, HealthTrust has changed the game by approving, accepting, and certifying refurbished imaging equipment providers. The implications are significant, of which we’ll describe 4 that jump off the paper:

From the thorough vetting process to boilerplate terms and conditions, you can buy with confidence knowing that each refurbished provider has been hand-selected and there is a proverbial “bouncer” standing behind each purchase that you make. This is huge. Security is on the way.

Buying Power + Competition

Over the last several years, the GPO village was void of refurbished providers. The attempt to use buying power (volume) to reduce prices is only as effective as the competitive options. Without OEM or third-party refurbishers in the mix, the new pricing could be held high... after all, who was it being compared against? Yup, dollar savings are on the way too.

While the OEMs have trade desks to help liquidate, we all know the offers include funny money and the systems make their way into a brokering network, with each middle man making a buck on the way through. Wouldn’t it be nice to sell to a company who is going to distribute the system directly into the most valuable market in the world for your specific system, thereby garnering a better price? How about more dollars? They’re on the way.

Clinical and Economic Expectations

While there is a time and place that the latest and greatest is needed, we all know there are many places where technology is “overbought”. The technology curve has slowed over the past 48 months and with continued reimbursement cuts, it’s time to economize. For hospitals and the thousands of clinics with equipment that was bought during the Kennedy administration, there has never been a better balance of clinical and economic utility. The equipment that is coming to market and the value that is available are extraordinary. Savings... they're coming too.

So, as you consider the information above, it’s important to acknowledge the progressive step HealthTrust has taken. Beyond taking advantage of the ability to buy and sell equipment to qualified, trusted refurbished equipment providers, the inclusion alone will change the way dollars are spent.

Block Imaging is honored to be a HealthTrust approved provider. We stand ready and look forward to serving you.
