Excite_II_Lease_PriceLike its predecessor, the GE LX, the GE Excite II 1.5T MRI is extremely popular on the secondary market. This is partially due to its 8-channel R/F capacity, low upfront cost, and easy serviceability.

The Excite II also offers excellent image quality in an efficient magnet design which dramatically reduces helium consumption. And, as with all GE MRI systems, the Excite II is easily upgradeable to platforms such as the HD, HDX, and HDXT.

The Problem

So, based on these features, you’ve decided that this is the system for you, but having the capital equipment budget to pay for it all at once seems like a tall order.

The Solution

Lease it!  The secondary market certainly isn't short on financing options for your equipment needs. As an example, see the table below for typical Excite II lease payments from Block Imaging. Each of the plans in the table includes delivery, installation, a 1-year service agreement, and a $1 buy-out at the end of the lease term. For the lowest possible starting costs, these plans are also available with the option to pay only $99 per month for the first three months of the lease term.

Lease Payments: GE Excite II 1.5T

  24 Months 36 Months 48 Months 60 Months
Level Lease Payments $18,250 $12,550 $9,700 $7,975
First 3 Months @ $99 $21,025 $13,775 $10,400 $8,475

On top of the advantages of leasing your equipment, if you qualify for the Section 179 tax deduction, there are savings to be had. Take a look at the example below to get an idea of what you can expect:

Section 179 Savings: GE Excite II 1.5T

Equipment Price $395,000
Equipment Depreciation Term 5 Years
Equipment Condition Refurbished
Equipment Depreciation Under MACRS $395,000
Entity Marginal Tax Bracket 35%
Cash Savings on Equipment Purchase $138,250
Net Cost of Equipment $256,750

If your budget doesn't allow for an outright purchase right now, but your clinical needs are pushing you toward an upgrade sooner rather than later, leasing might be the best way to help you strike a balance between what you can afford and what you need.
