You're probably thinking, “Coming from a service company, they’ll play it off like the world would stop spinning if I missed a PM”. We won’t go that far, but we do want to give you a deeper look at why service companies and engineers so strongly advocate consistently scheduled preventative maintenances.

1. A preventative maintenance will ensure that your system is functioning within manufacturer guidelines and specifications. Even more important, a thorough check and test of your system will make sure it passes all the regulations mandated by your state agencies.
    
2. PMs address glaring service needs before they put your system hard down. Even if the full repair cannot be completed during the PM, this will give you foresight on service issues that will need to be resolved in the near future.
    
3. A proper PM should include a system cleaning both internally and externally. This means cleaning fans and filters, vacuuming dust out of cabinets and consoles and wiping down covers and external components. Not only does your system look sharper, it’s also able to cool itself more efficiently, which increases the longevity of many internal components.
    
4. A proper PM also backs up vital patient data and cleans up hard-drive space for performance.

Finding Your Frequency

Every manufacturer and modality has its own set of recommendations when it comes to preventative check-ups. Your system manual should tell you how frequently your unit needs to be maintained. Getting on a Schedule
